Touring through Wales

There are 360 quarries across Wales and Blaenau Ffestiniog has a museum and square dedicated to the memory of those who lived and worked in these mining towns. The Deep Mine (bottom right) is no longer operational but you can go down the 50ft by small train and learn all about the slate industry. There are slate Caverns, old houses built entirely from slate and disused railway tracks all through this rocky landscape.
